Maths, typeset as you type.

Write a short line of AsciiMath, and your students see it set as in a textbook, plots included, the moment you type it: on the screen you share, or on their own phone.

§1

No pen tablet needed. No LaTeX either.

Online, maths is usually handwritten with a mouse, scribbled on a tablet, or typeset in LaTeX after the lesson. live-math lets you type it during the lesson, almost as fast as you say it, and it looks as good as a book.

  • Handwriting with a mouse

    Type it instead

AsciiMath reads the way you would write maths in a message: sqrt(x^2 + 1) becomes , a/b a fraction.

  • A blurry shared screen

    Sharp on every screen

Formulas and plots are drawn by each browser, not filmed: crisp on the screen you share, and on every student's phone with the live link.

  • Plots drawn by hand

    One line per figure

plot: sin x draws it, with exact labels: zeros, tangents, areas, complex roots, the unit circle, sign charts.

The same formulas, typed in LaTeX and in live-math, with the characters each takes. The output is the same.

§2

One line, one figure.

A word at the start of a line turns it into a drawing, labelled with exact values where they are notable. It never solves the exercise for you: it shows what you are explaining, so that students notice it.

§3

Built for teaching, live.

What a lesson needs is a key away, and nothing else reaches the students' screen: no buttons, no menus, only the sheet.

  • Alt+V
    A viewer to share

A tab with the sheet alone, to share in the video call you already use. Paper or blackboard, bigger or smaller, from the editor.

  • Alt+L
    The live

Students open a link on their own device and follow as you write, or scroll back at their own pace. No account, no app.

  • mouse
    Point and mark

A pointer everyone sees. Drag to circle or underline, Shift and drag to highlight: the marks stay on their symbols.

  • Alt+SAlt+R
    The curtain

Write the solution before the lesson, then reveal it a line at a time. Try it on the right.

  • Alt+G
    Move a plot

The arrows move its window, + and − zoom: the line rewrites itself, and everyone sees the plot move.

  • Ctrl+K
    Lessons, recorded

Every live is recorded: a link replays it as it was written, long pauses shortened. Or publish a frozen copy of the sheet.

  • Alt+E
    Export

PDF, HTML or LaTeX, to send after the lesson.

Free for everyone. The live, on request.

The editor, the viewer and the exports work for anyone, without an account. The live, the cloud and the recorded lessons need a login: free as well, you only have to ask.
